We stopped at a garage sale this Fourth of July weekend and even before I got out of the car I spotted this beautiful Mexican pottery duck.
The sale had been going on for a few hours but nobody else saw anything special about this exquisite duck. (IMHO) I loved her at first sight. When we got closer I saw the signs advertising factory tours and I felt as if a dream had come true. I had always wanted to see where those beautiful pieces of art glass were made, so I was Deer Path Vintagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00320036827375112717noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5319996550450520562.post-19402317713819110442011-02-09T19:11:00.002-05:002011-02-10T14:12:12.335-05:00Story Book Settings - New TreasuryI won't be posting every treasury I make on my blog here--promise. I remember when I first started on Etsy a couple of years ago how hard it was to even get a treasury on once it was made, but I finally decided to try one today. It was about the most fun I've had in a long time, and it was very easy once I figuredRamonaGrigghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13928806078488007738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5319996550450520562.post-3219886216610737112010-12-27T16:49:00.002-05:002011-07-19T12:22:00.125-04:00Etsy makes the New York Times!Hi All, there was a story about Etsy in the New York Times yesterday, and I'm envisioning lollipops and big sales coming for all us Etsians (they even mentioned Vintage!), so I've opened my store early in hopes that someone from NYTville will come looking my way. (It was originally going to be closed until 1/10/11.)
Just wish I had more in my store right now, but I'm Deer Path Vintagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00320036827375112717noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5319996550450520562.post-54073382794729939592010-12-05T15:13:00.000-05:002010-12-05T15:13:16.402-05:00Holiday Sale at Deer Path Vintage!Big News! I thought it was interesting, but didn't really know what it was, so down it went into the depths of an odds-and-ends drawer.
I finally decided to clean out that drawer today, and this time I decided to try and figure out what it is. That's because I've flown the Up North coop and migrated south for the winter with the rest of the opposed-to-the-cold birds. I think it started in kindergarten when the teacher sat me sideways in a little chair, shined a light on me, and copied my shadow on a paper taped to the wall. I still have that silhouette somewhere, though I can't find it at the moment. That would make me really sad except that the silhouette is of me in the dreaded pigtails. They looked vaguely familiar when I spotted them, but when these bar sets were first produced I was into Colonial, and modern didn't really show me much.I've since learned that Couroc is getting increasingly popular for very good reason. When I first saw it, I had to laugh. I thought, "That's just silly". But at the same time, I wholeheartedly went along with the idea, because it meant I could list more items there. After many debates about, say, 1988 being Vintage, I think I'm finally beginning to see the light. The dish was pretty grubby when I found it, but I loved the look of it, so I paid my $2.49 and walked out happy. Some of the writers seem to think it shouldn't be used for anything except wine. They have a point. The word "vintage" comes from "vintner", which means "winemaker". You can see from the following reference on Dictionary.com that they stress the wine connection, too:RamonaGrigghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13928806078488007738noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5319996550450520562.post-54938527151596228972008-10-12T14:17:00.018-04:002008-10-19T19:13:09.142-04:00Welcome to Deer Path VintageHello and welcome!
